SHANGHAI, June 29 – Visiting Peruvian President Dina Boluarte met with authorities of Chinese shipping giant COSCO in Shanghai, the second stop of her five-day state visit to China.
COSCO Shipping is cooperating with Peru to build Chancay Port, a landmark project under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Professor Yue Yunxia, director of the Department of Economics at the Institute of Latin American Studies under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, says Chancay Port will become a new channel between Latin America and the Asia Pacific region.
COSCO is the majority shareholder of the Chancay mega port.
Boluarte said it will be a leading logistics hub for cross-border transportation in the South American-Pacific region, CGTN reported.
The port is expected to be inaugurated in November.
